Our Philosophy and History

We are a licensed, non-denominational preschool program and follow the guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), EDSE utilizes an integrated curriculum in which monthly themes are integrated into all subjects. EDSE's curriculum:

  • reflects the natural way children develop, at their own rate;
  • allows for a wide range of abilities within the classroom;
  • maximizes the effect of rates of learning, different styles of learning, and multiple intelligences;
  • provides an opportunity for learning to take place within the context of meaningful activity;
  • lends itself to a theme-based approach
  • promotes self-motivation and extension of learning; and
  • promotes positive awareness of our community through hands-on activities.

EDSE was founded in 2003 by Janet Reznik, our Administrative Director, after she moved to Evergreen from Dallas, TX with her young family. It began as a part-time, Mother's Day Out program and has since grown to be the most recommended and highly respected preschool in the Evergreen-Conifer mountain communities. EDSE now offers full-time preschool and extended care, a summer camp program, and enrolls over 70 students in six classrooms.
